The Role
We are seeking a passionate software engineer who enjoys working on
technologically challenging problems. The successful candidate will participate in the full software life-cycle, from researching the problem to implementation, deployment and production monitoring.
As part of the development team, you will have responsibility for developing and maintaining the critical technology that underpins the Stratagem approach, including real-time data analysis applications and automated trading software. As a member of a small but growing team you will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to business-critical software.
Your Profile
Most of all you will enjoy coding and take real pride in developing high-quality software. You will enjoy learning and probably like to experiment with new languages, technologies and libraries outside of your day job. Adopting best practices (such as AGILE workflows, source control, extensive testing and code reviews) will come naturally to you.
We think you should have:
● A 2:1 or above in a degree with considerable scientific content
● A minimum of 3 years of commercial software engineering experience
working with real-time, high availability scalable systems
● Significant experience with Python (CPython) including testing (pyunit/unittest) and Python’s release procedures
● Experience working with critical software where bugs can directly cost money and attention is paid to testing, staged releases and redundancy
● Experience with at least one other compiled object-oriented language
(Java/C++)
We would like you to have:
● Experience with concurrent programming in Java
● Experience with continuous integration servers (e.g. Jenkins, Teamcity)
● Experience with Mongo DB
