Senior Full Stack Software Engineer (Python)

Due to the continuous engineering needs within the Signal Group, Signal Ventures team is ready to welcome a self-driven, inquisitive, fast-learning Senior Full Stack Software Engineer with 5-plus years of proven experience and passion for modern architectures, design principles and creation of high-quality solutions to join one of the startups we are incubating . The successful candidate will lead the design, development and maintenance of the product architecture, features and infrastructure while shaping the direction of the team. Signal’s Software Engineers work closely with data science, design, product, and business analysis professionals to develop robust solutions to the highly entrepreneurial domain of shipping.
About Signal Ventures: Signal Ventures is the venture building and strategic investment arm of the Signal Group, a leading provider of technology, data and commercial solutions to the shipping industry. Its focus is on early stage technology startups and entrepreneurs in the shipping, logistics and commodities space.
Technology Stack: We build cloud solutions using Python, C#, .NET Core, React, Service Fabric, MongoDB, MSSQL Server, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, Grafana, Influx and more. We also offer the opportunity to work on state-of-the-art architectures and technology stacks, as well as a global, Artificial Intelligence-powered technology product vision. We organize our teams using the concepts of Dual-track Agile (Scrum) methodologies and we would love to onboard people who are going to contribute across product discovery, delivery, optimization, QA, DevOps and Continuous Integration.
What you’ll do:
As an early member of the team, you’ll have the unique opportunity to design, build and maintain product architecture, features and infrastructure while shaping the direction of the team.
Work closely with the entrepreneur in residence (founder) and development team to build an advanced supply chain visibility solution
Setup and maintain product architecture and drive technology decisions for the project
Setup and drive the QA automation and DevOps pipeline
Develop back end as well front end modules
Design / Develop / Maintain integration interfaces
DB design, administration and tuning
 
 
What you bring to the team:
Master’s or Bachelor’s university degree in Computer Science, related technical field or exceptional practical experience
5+ years of working experience in end to end full-stack software development
Demonstrable Python development skills. Experience with additional programming languages is welcome
Strong experience in ReactJS in order to create sophisticated front end solutions
Ability to run MVPs and create up & running web applications
Strong experience with data pipelines
Serverless / Cloud computing (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, etc)
Knowledge and an active interest in Design Patterns and SOLID architecture principles
Experience with relational and non-relational databases (design, administration, tuning) and with ORM frameworks e.g. Entity Framework, Dapper, etc.
Experience with testing and mocking frameworks
Experience with Micro-services & REST APIs
Ability to adapt to changing requirements and delivery timelines; Agile development experience and DevOps interest (including tools like Visual Studio, Git, TeamCity, SCRUM/Agile tools) is welcome
Excellent command of written and spoken English
Nice to have:
Experience in a start-up (or has entrepreneurial spirit/ambition)
